ASMR- H.P. Lovecraft Butterfly Racist? 3D Video
10 years ago
Was H. P. Lovecraft a Racist? Sadly, the answer is yes. To Prevent this video from being Flagged for Racial Slurs, all Racist words in letters spoken will be interchanged with bug names. I'm sure everyone can figure out what I'm referring to, but calling People Anthropod names rather than Racial Slurs was much more appealing to me, than smearing my fellow human beings.
HP Lovecraft is, like most racists, really just a coward. He's afraid of minorities because they are different than him, being a writerly new-England type he could attribute many of the problems in his life to the existence of minorities without having to actually encounter them in his day to day life. When he actually did encounter one, he wound up marrying her, another common trend in racists (“yeah all jews are bad, I just found the good one. Her families nice too, and her friends are pretty cool, but every other one is awful. I sure am a rare, lucky, and special guy, huh). As a mildly successful writer who was considered a bit of a weirdo (he rarely left the house except at night, had a long weird face, was named Howard Philips, both his parents went crazy and then died), he didn't have a lot going for him to make him feel better about himself. He was however, whiter than many of the people in the gradually melting pot of 1920s New England. Naturally, he chose to take pride in his race, something about him that took no effort at all past being born. This is common in many people, be it they are proud of their height, their hair color or curliness, or even their pets, but HP turned it to a malicious bent, attempting to call out the weakness of “lesser races” in order to call attention away from his own shortcomings and hypocrisy. The near feverish terror at the idea of mixed races, when combined with his general miserable outlook and tendency to write about hopelessness, leads one to guess that he may in fact have had some degree of attraction to minorities as well, and that this was another thing he hated about himself. Be it out of genuine self-loathing for these tendencies or another effort to deflect criticism from himself, such urges would also have contributed to his zealous racism. HP Lovecraft, a man who wrote a story where the peak of the horror is a man finding a gigantic elbow underground, was pretty messed up, which makes a lot of sense in retrospect. His cosmic horrors were less incomprehensible than they seemed at first.

"Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, or cognitive stimuli. The nature and classification of the ASMR phenomenon is controversial, with strong anecdotal evidence to support the phenomenon but little or no scientific explanation or verified data."
I'd like to thank my sons, Maxwell Allen and Madison Jeffery, for asking me to do this video, and helping me research the material.
