ASMR Cranial Worm Exam
Dr. Andrew Michaels needs to help a government hire qualify for his job, by passing a cranial nerve exam. In this video we review the applicants medical history, and walk them through the exam. There is a small twist at the end that I hope is a lot of fun for everyone.
RFK JR began experiencing severe short- and long-term memory loss and mental fog in 2010. In a 2012 divorce court deposition, he attributed neurological issues to "a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died", in addition to mercury poisoning from eating large quantities of tuna. The Washington Post reported that Kennedy's campaign "has not released his medical records that could verify his account, and Kennedy has previously spread health misinformation, including about mercury in vaccines".
In a 2012 Town & Country magazine profile of Robert Kennedy's daughter Kathleen ("Kick"), she recounted a story about how her father—who, she said, liked to study animal skulls and skeletons—used a chainsaw to sever the head of a dead beached whale in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, then strapped the whale's head to the top of their minivan with bungee cords for the five-hour drive home, saying, "every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car" and they "had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us".
A cranial nerve exam assesses the functionality of the 12 cranial nerves, which arise from the brain and control various functions like vision, hearing, taste, and movement of the head and neck. It involves a series of tests designed to identify potential issues with these nerves, helping to pinpoint neurological problems.
Specific Tests:
Olfactory Nerve (I): Evaluated by having the patient identify odors presented to each nostril.
Optic Nerve (II): Assessed by testing visual acuity (using a Snellen chart), visual fields, and pupillary responses.
Oculomotor, Trochlear, and Abducens Nerves (III, IV, VI): Tested together by assessing eye movements, including tracking a pen or finger in an "H" pattern, and observing for symmetry and any abnormal movements.
Trigeminal Nerve (V): Evaluated for both sensory and motor functions. Sensory function is tested by assessing light touch and pinprick sensation on the face, while motor function is checked by palpating the muscles of mastication during jaw clenching.
Facial Nerve (VII): Tested by observing facial expressions, such as smiling and frowning, and by assessing the ability to close the eyes tightly.
Vestibulocochlear Nerve (VIII): Examined through hearing tests and vestibular function tests.
Glossopharyngeal and Vagus Nerves (IX, X): Tested together by observing the soft palate and uvula elevation when the patient says "ah," and by assessing the gag reflex.
Accessory Nerve (XI): Tested by checking the strength of the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles.
Hypoglossal Nerve (XII): Assessed by observing tongue movement and protrusion.
